And all in all I would say a very positive one at that.
Couple of minor points it could possibly be pulled up on but a pretty decent review I would say

Yes I would agree, seems he was reviewing a preproduction unit though so not 100% representative.

Oh lordy, not this again....

Please look again and see how it says that those cameras are SOME of the K-7's rivals. It is also more of a link to their other reviews to be honest.

Don't take it personally!

EDIT: And, perhaps you missed this bit in the introduction? “Going up against the likes of the Canon EOS 50D and Nikon D300, the 14.6 megapixel K7 certainly has a lot to offer on paper, surpassing its main rivals in many ways.”

Looks pretty fair competition to me!

2nd EDIT: What Mike said, down there!

Going up against the likes of the Canon EOS 50D and Nikon D300, the 14.6 megapixel K7 certainly has a lot to offer on paper, surpassing its main rivals in many ways.

Photographers with no vested interest in a particular manufacturers system now find themselves spoilt for choice in the prosumer category, with the K-7, Canon EOS 50D, Olympus E-3 and Nikon D300 all at the same price point. In many ways the Pentax K-7 offers the best overall package out of them al

Based upon offering HD video in a small form factor 'pro-sumer' type camera, this would be a reasonable assumption. If someone is buying the camera for the HD video function then they may well weigh it up against these two and may come to the conclusion it is expensive since they are not considering all its features and virtues which would pitch against cameras twice the price and weight.

Having held all three the K7 is really a step up from them in so many other ways. Unfortunately, like the K20D, the K7 may fall between two stools again with people not knowing what to compare it to: a 'pro' camera based upon features and quality or a mid-range camera based upon size and price, and so on.

It would be easier if Pentax just made a clunky, heavy camera the same size and weight as a D300 or 50D and added all its features then it would be compared with these models and not be made out as if it is an expensive alternative to a 500D

But in fairness this was the fate the LX suffered - it was too good for the amateur market but somehow they couldn't quite see it as a 'professional' camera because it was so small and 'neat'. Too well specified for one and to small to be taken seriously if you know what I mean....because if it ain't heavy it ain't professional!

Why do archeologists need a valve?
