Another HDR

Love the colours...Maybe a closer shot of the merrygoround...see more details...Like the way you capture the whole shot...that is top bottom sides...

I think it looks good, I like it. Well sorted. Good image.

Better body? This ones putting out the results!

I agree, it is good to use what you have to the max. A better camera does not make you a better photographer, but I am getting a bit fed up of having to go through a lengthy menu to make changes wheras with the K10 and 20 the fundamental settings are easily accessed by direct buttons.

I actually prefer the second. Yes it's obviously more processed, but i've always been a fan of the 'bloom' effect that HDR can bring only if it suits the picture.

It's like a scene from Half-Life 2.

For me the first is a tad too busy - the background and foreground clash somewhat for my tastes.

And another, I made 3 exposures either side of the original RAW and tweaked the levels

For me I find that the (cliff?) in the background detracts too much from the subject. It's also a shot I would'nt immediately say suits HDR treatment.

Generally in my experience HDR works best on pure landscape type shots where you can bring in blown out exposures in the sky and reveal the hidden secrets of shadows in the foreground.

It's unusual to do this with a close-focus subject (I would say). So i don't think you are getting the best out of the HDR process here...

Thanks Bob and I think you have some valid comments there.

If you look at the original shot (here), it looks a bit flat so I think that HDR treatment does make an impact, in this case a bit subtle, but nevertheless, in my opinion better than the original shot. The dog's fur has an added dimension, as if a flash were used.

Sorry Bob, and this goes out to other forum members, I have just thought of this, could you tell the first dog shot was HDR treated?

It is subtle, but yes I could tell.

For me, i'd have played around with the curves in Photoshop a bit, or perhaps moved the fill light slider a little when editing the RAW image. HDR would'nt have been the obvious choice for me.

But seeing the original does put into context the improvement HDR has given it certainly.

The first one is nice, almost like a scenery to some fairy-tale.
