Its always worth using the buy it now option with immiediate payment required. they either pay up straight away or risk someone else buying the item.

Something new here. The last time I put in a BIN option, it was unavailable as soon as bidding started. Made it seem like a waste, so I don't do BIN at all now.

If you have a reserve on the item, the BIN stays until the reserve is reached.

Sorry for hijacking this thread but i have another E-bay related question  How long does one wait before commencing a dispute for non reciept of goods : I purchased a filter from a HK based company over 3 weeks ago. I generally wait 2 weeks before e-mailing anyone if i have not recieved my order and i have sent 3 to this company over the last week without reply. They seem a reputable company with over 10,000 transactions and a feedback rating of 99.6%. The negatives they have recieved all relate to postage and communication. Should i give it another week or commence proceedings :
I have purchased a number of items for HK and it normally takes a week at most.
Its only 15quid so it doesn't bother me that much but what does annoy me is they don't reply when you have a problem And i will name them if i don't get satisfaction

If they are not replying, then I would say 3 weeks is enough. If you paid by Paypal I would open a complaint. That should get their attention. If that fails escalate it to a dispute.

Dont leave it too long.

Having lost the hood from my 18-55, I spotted an ebay listing for one. The seller claimed that her lens had been stolen and she was selling the hood - we're only talking £8 here. Some weeks went buy and I realised I might have opted for surface mail from the USA; some more weeks went buy and I contacted the seller - 'it must have gone missing, I just happen to have another one' (really!!!)' I'll send you that' some weeks have gone by and I conatcted her again 'I've been ill and forgot to post it'. I now know that there is nothing that can be done because it is time barred by both ebay and paypal. I've only lost a few quid and I'm not sure why because there cant be an international scam involving Pentax lens hoods at £8!

Raise the issue as soon as you can and check ebay and paypal rules, however, postage from HK to UK takes 3 weeks minimum. It might be worth waiting a little longer.

Gartmore Your issue sure sounds strange to say the least but if she gets enough punters to fork over the 8quid it all adds up in the long run and she is probably hoping most people dont bother to complain.

And as i said it usually only takes a week from HK too Aust. I checked into his feedback a little more and noticed a UK buyer purchased the same item as i did 4 days after me and then logged his pos feedback on the 12th nov Thats 2 weeks i make it and he got his item i am assuming :
