Not so keen on this one Alistair, the yellows are very dominant and I'm not sure that the shallow DOF works very well on this subject / scene. For compositions that lead the eye into the distance (as this one does), I think they work better when the distant objects are readable and in focus.

Yes, the effect is a bit nausiating The eye doesn't really latch onto the leaf at all, but rather wanders uncomfortably around trying to find something else to latch onto !
A good idea to try out though.

Really???
Im really happy with this one
Are you saying to have everything in focus beyond the leaf - as in shooting F14 or something?
I like the fall off in and out

I rather like this (the original and Barrie's version). The colours look autumnal, not too garish on my netbook screen, and there's an element of mystery about the OOF background. It works even better, I feel, with about a third cropped off the bottom. I thought the left side might need cropping as well but, on reflection, it looks better as a semi-panorama. Good job. I can see opportunities as a newspaper/magazine stock shot.

^ bingo. Perhaps not what one would want framed on ones wall, but to put text over for an advert/webpage/whatever? perfect.

I like this, but you need to consider cropping it.
Some off the bottom and possibly LHS.

Ive tried my best to leave this straight from camera.
Its had a little exposure boost and some vibrance....
Have I achieved something pleasing here? I welcome all comments.
As always THANK YOU!
