Following on from my previous post I thought it might be interesting to post several of the lighthouse photos I shot during the "session" I ask for preference & the reason why. Appreciate all the feedback I can get !!

2 & 6 for me. No cotton wool water on any of them which is refreshing to see.

1 is my favourite.

Is it my monitor or does the sea look slightly pink in these shots?

Also I think you need to look a bit more at horizons. Generally it is not good to have the horizon in the midlle of a shot. most pictures work best with the horizon at 1/3 (if the focus is the sky) or 2/3 (if the focus is the land/sea) up the picture. Exceptions include reflections and also your pier shot, where having the 'horizon' (actually the straight line of the sea shore) half way up works beautifully.

I agree, the weakness in these shots is the tendency to split the images into two with a central horizon.

I like number 3 and 6. I like the colours in them.

I am picking up a slight pink in the foam.

Thanks everyone for the useful feedback.

Regarding "central horizons" I admit that I often concentrate much of my attention on picking out foreground detail & forget to check the horizon position. As with all rules sometimes I get away with breaking it & sometimes I don't.
It is one of the advantages of having 10MP too, at least it still possible to crop images when needed without losing the ability to print at a decent size !!
