I'm happily using my 20 year-old Refconverter-M on the D. Works a treat - much better than the cheap Chinese ones which show a laterally-inverted image!

In fact, Pentax haven't changed the eyepiece fitting since the introduction of the M-series, so any of the eyepiece accessories made since then will work fine on the D/DS/DL.

I'm also using the Nikon DK-21M eyepiece magnifier. It's a bit of a tight fit, but works very well giving a slightly bigger view in the viewfinder. View is still not as good as my MX, but a definite improvement (and relatively inexpensive for a Nikon accessory).

Cheers,
Mike

I have used a Leica right angle finder which fits the LX, Super A, and istD eyepeice. The fit is tight. This finder has the advantage of a 2x flip in magnifier built in.

And your search is over? Not a bad price I'd say

Have fun scrabbling about on your knees!

angle finders are sooooooo old fashioned....try a pocket sized tv... with your video cable...add a remote release....then stick your camera on a pole up high, or a bean bag down low...on the bumper of your car, or the frame of your bike......
Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

Pretty happy with the price, you wern't after it as well were you?

The Pentax M and A versions are attracting silly money, there's a beat up M one in Germany wiyh a BIN of £68+13 postage so I have to be happy with what I paid.

That's a pretty cool suggestion...but...on the D you can only use the video mode to playback images that have already been taken and written to the CF card. would be a brilliant option though.

Can you set the d to display an image for 3-5 seconds after each shot?
that's what my ds2 does..allows you to shoot, get a quick preview and then shoot again.

This is a really good idea but a be careful that your TV is set up to show you the true camera output. I tried this with a 16:9 set and it stretched the image to fit. On a 4:3 set it cropped the camera output. Make sure you set up your monitor correctly in the first instance to show the full camera picture. It is a real shame you cant get a constant output.

I've just won a Spotmatic era ref converter on ebay for £22, it hasn't arrived yet and I bought it to use with my Spotmatics, I notice that the DS eyepiece cover fits loosely on the Spotmatic. Might the old refconverter fit very snugly on the DS?

Hi Brian,

No, I wasn't after it, but I did have a look. I've got a non-descript one that I've glued a suitable eyepiece adaptor to, but since digital, I've not used it much (if at all, come to think of it). Not that I used it a huge amount when I was using film.

I tend to use a combination of Dons method and getting down low to peer as well as I can through the viewfinder - I just make sure I wear a pair of trousers that don't show the dirt.

Cheers,
Dan
