An odd SP1000

Sue and I were at Coven today at the camera fair, where we saw a very off Honeywell Pentax SP1000, or at least that's what the top plate said it was. However, it had a self timer....

We suspected that an SP1000 top plate had been fitted to a Spotmatic, unless someone can tell us differently....

We also saw a SMC Pentax 28mm f3.5 in nice condition, but unfortunately with a very sluggish diaphragm.

There were other items too, and plenty in very nice condition, so it looks like there is plenty to buy if you want to find these sort of things.

A while ago one Pentax repair guy sold a SP1000 with self-timer on Ebay. He had add the self-timer himself. I have sometimes thought about it myself, as well as adding a mirror-lock-up... But i don´t really need either of those features (having other bodies with the features already), maybe it´s just that i´d like to "tune" something !

To add a self-timer also the plate that holds the lens mount has to be replaced with one that has holes for the timer. The SP1000 body itself has the space for the timer.

But propably your questimate is more likely

Edit. Looks like it was my first post as a member! I have wrote a few messages earlier too, but i guess have done that as a guest...

I suspect the Ebay seller was lying through his teeth. A changed top plate is a far more likely explanation.

On the other hand, given where JR saw his, perhaps it had been bewitched.
