Definately a case of LBA
What are your initial thoughts about the 55-300?

Dave - think its only a mild case .
Bad LBA, coupled with CBA, leads to cupboard loads of gear and adding to it to "complete a range" or because it's "a rare example". Serious cases have to hold their equipment in an MS Access database with separate table for MF and AF prime and zoom lens, MF and AF bodies.....

It`s a big improvement on my Tammy, which is now for sale on ebay.I am not actually knocking the Tammy, for the price it is a great value lens and it allowed me to decide if I would get much use out of that FL range. As you can pick them up for about a third of the cost of the DA 55-300 it`s a good lens to start with. Wonder how long it will be before I start needing the 60-250What are your initial thoughts about the 55-300?

I'm feeling your pain. I thought I was over my LBA and I wasn't planning to buy anything new for a while, but somehow in the last month or so I have bought a Tamron 500mm mirror, several teleconverters including a Pentax 1.7x AF adapter, a Raynox 150, a Tamron Adaptall-2 60-300, a Nikon SB-24 flash, a Pentax 200 flash, a Cactus v4 wireless trigger set, a negative scanner, a 77mm Marumi CPL, several UV filters, and a whole load of minor accessories like lens caps. The only thing I actually needed was some of the lens caps.

I had a slight addiction to cheap 28-80 (ish) AF zooms, although that's almost settled since I bought an FA 28-90mm. This seems to be the best of the cheaper lenses in that focal range, slightly ahead of the F 28-80mm on account of the longer range.
Now it's primes - just bought an A 50mm f1.7 and I'm looking at a 135mm when I can afford one. These join a K 55mm f1.8, an M 50mm f1.7, a pair of M 50mm f2s and a Takumar Bayonet 28mm f2.8.
I ended up with the multitude of M 50s as I had a K1000 with an f2, then bought an ME Super with an f1.7, and then saw another cheap f2 which is a great fit on an old MV1 I had lurking in the wardrobe...

Hasnt arrived yet! I only bought that a couple of days ago. It was hovering around the £60 mark for a week and I got it for £105. It includes a 01F 2x teleconverter, an OM mount, a Nikon mount, and a PK mount. One of the reasons I went for it is that in the single blurry photo the PK mount looks a lot like a PKA mount. Im planning on selling all the mounts and the TC and hopefully end up with a £40 lens. Maybe a free lens if the PK is actually a PKA

That's silly, MS Access isn't nearly good enough. It's SQL Server on clustered servers distributed across Europe for me. Gotta keep my lens list safe. Serious cases have to hold their equipment in an MS Access database with separate table for MF and AF prime and zoom lens, MF and AF bodies.....
Not really, Excel is good enough for me. I do maintain a list of items bought and sold with prices and serial numbers for insurance purposes though.
The bottom line is very very scary.
