I tried searching the forum but cant find an easy answer so here goes.

Is there a way of firing the 540 off camera (K10d if that makes a difference) via a lead without paying Pentax's stupid prices for their adapter & lead. I know that wirelessly the 540 needs to 'see' the pop-up or another onboard flash to be able to fire but sometimes I dont want an on board flash hence the use of a lead. So is there a cheap lead that will let me also use an board (or the pop-up) flash if I want to? Similar I guess to the Pentax hot shoe adapter Fg.

The Nissin SC-01 is also listed in the latest SpeedGraphic catalogue.

I think you may be able to use the built in flash as just a controller-so although it fires it is not used for illumination during the exposure?

Thanks folks. I'd spotted the Nissin unit but it's an either off-camera flash or on-camera flash, you cant use both together. The 2nd hand stuff looks interesting but I share other posters concerns on buying from non-EU countries & they aren't cheaper enough than new for me. However within that post was a link to an e-bay site knocking out a Nissin replica(ish) @ 2/3rds the price so I may get one of those for when I dont need an on camera plus off camera combination. As for using the pop-up as a controller, I'll investigate this further but sometimes I've got the 540 where it cant 'see' the fireing flash to tell it when to activate. Thanks again.
