Taken the flashgun out for its first outing for a long time - rechargables put in and nothing....simple explanation? or is it a case non-salvageable?

Thanks

Am assuming you have done the obvious - tried a different set of batteries?

Get a finger into the battery compartment and rub the contacts. Try moving every switch many times.

It could just be atmospheric corrosion building up a film.

batteries, check, contacts look clean...

no harm trying again...hoping someone in SW has the power pack which might help diagnosing.

cheers chaps.

Not on a flash but in the past I have had a problem with a device starting up following a period of being unused.

NiMH and NiCd rechargeables are nominally 1.2v whereas a Zinc/Carbon or Zinc/Manganese Dioxide (Alkaline) are 1.5 to 1.65v. So for a 4-celll configuration it is 4.8 compared to 6+ volts.

Try a set of fresh primary cells - the flash is designed to run with them and see if that is enough to kick it into life.

Try the switch in the slave position.
Give it a few taps to make sure the batteries aren't
sticking.
Leave it on for about 5 mins, sometimes flashes are quiet
and can take a long time to charge up.

There's life

Slow to start but it's recharging quickly and it's on the rechargables

Thanks!
