Just picked up an AF400T Flash on Ebay for £40 complete with two camera brackets, mains unit, battery pack, and a bundle of cables including two hard to get LX ones. Despite it being described as 'working perfectly' it, as you've guessed, isn't. TTL Auto doesn't work but the unit works perfectly in every other respect (Manual and auto using its built in sensor). I know it isn't worth commercial repair and the seller has offered a full return and refund or keep it and negotiate a reduction. Does anyone know what might be wrong? I've tried different cables and cameras.

My options are

1. return and refund
2. negotiate a reduction (how much?) and keep a useful powerful mains operated flash as a manual piece of kit with the niggle that it isn't perfect.
3. split and sell the individual working parts

What would you do?

I suppose it depends why you bought it. If TTL was a factor, I'd go for the refund and look for another. If it wasn't, I'd go for a reduction.
