Hi all
I have just fine tuned my 55-300 which was slightly back focusing,my question is (which might be a silly one)..do i now have to leave the fine tuning setting to ON or will the actual setting now be saved for this lens even if i turn fine tuning to OFF (if you get my drift )

Off generally means just that

Lol just tried it on my k5, it does save the settings, probably useful to keep a note of how much correction needed just in case.
