I'm trying to add some text to some images, in the form of my name and the copyright symbol and the year using Elements 6. I can't seem to find in any of my photoshop books anywhere that tells me how to do this

Can someone on here assist please?

Thanks

Rob

In Elements 5 i Would go Full Edit, Artwork & Effects, Text. you should be able to select text type and add a text box in to the image

I’m a Photoshop user but the principal should be the same.
Select “Full Edit” then create a new layer ( I believe the layers option is on the right hand side). Making sure the new layer is selected add your text. After you have completed this go to the “file” option and select “Save for Web”. This will allow you to output the file as a jpg with the layer information embedded.

I have read the thread before but unless I am being really silly, well I can't understand why it's so hard to do this.

Is it just the one image that you want to add txt to?

If it is then why don't you just select the tool from the side toolbar shaped like a "T" and just write on the image.

I use CS3 & 4 but have also previoulsly used Elements 5 & 6. They are all the same.

I'm just a tad confused

The only benefit that I can see to this is that you can then save the file unmolested in a photoshop file format, giving you the option to output the file with watermark turned on or off without having two copies floating around on you hard drive.

Because I've not had Elements 6 that long and the book that I bought I didn't find very helpful at all, too much jargon and not very user friendly.

So a short question on this friendly forum and it's all sorted...

I guess it's because I want two images, one with the watermark and one which I keep in a seperate folder for my clients.

Ok fair enough, I hope I didn't come across rude, I do that sometimes but I in no way mean it.
I was given a book similar to the one you described as a gift. I got a bit out of it but gave up. I looked at the program and got the jist of the basics myself. Now and again I learn differnt things.

Anyway, I'm glad you got your query sorted, sorry for poking my nose in
