I think you can tell from all the comments so far how much people admire this work. I agree with them. I like the originality, the lateral thinking of how you can work with a camera and a lens to create such an effect. Excellent work.

Yes these are brilliant.
My efforts with a 'poor' lens look like normal images taken with a 'poor' lens. What you've done is capture the abstract and it sends the mind off to a different place.
For me, pic 2 looks like some duck billed birds in a cartoony way. Almost an uncanny valley effect.

Not just connected, I'm wallowing in it! Absolutely superb. And proof that ultimate sharpness isn't the only game in town . sometimes you wonder if others can connect with the vision.....
I'm wondering whether part of what makes these work so well is because they are similar to how the eye actually sees the world before the brain synthesises the bigger picture - small sharp region in the centre surrounded by blur.
