It's bad he don't. 16-45 is not so far from 18-55 but it's much better at short end. I'm not the one who are talking the lenses is bad but IMHO FA 43mm and FA 31mm are not the same as 16-45 at 43mm and 31mm.

The only fix lenses from the list matches 16-45 range is DA 40mm but imho the pancake is too specific lenses and we are talking about a kinda universal one like DA 16-45.Which is why he hasn't tried the Limited 43 and 31 (And neither have I for that matter... can't afford them )
I know the prices are crazy.

Yep. I'll be back in an hour I need a new glasses. DA 21 and DA 40
Seriously, I like DA lenses but it's something not mine. I know their quality, aperture and AF work fine but still I like old fashion lenses like FA lenses and zoom lenses like a trombone with manual focusing and aperture ring on it. For me photography it's not a good result only, process does matter.

Hello All;
I'll be getting the 31 Limited shortly from Pentax as well as the 16-50 f2.8 and the 50-135 f2.8. One I get a chance to use them, I'll get back to you all.
Best Wishes
Ben

The way I generally work is under 50mm. In fact the 70 Limited is a bit too long for me. I will use for beauty and relative close ups only. I generally work between 20 and 50 mm, that is why I am waiting anxiously for the new 16-50 f2.8 lens.Ben,

I've been using the 77 for headshots and an old A 50mm f/1.4 for wider portraits. In the studio, I like the primes for their superior quality and predictability.
In the field, the 16-45 gets a lot of use, and soon the 45-125 will be replaced with the 50-135. I come from a time when zooms were generally not trusted for commercial work, and I guess I still have that attitude.
I do have to admit that the 12-24 is the lens that finally convinced me that a zoom could perform on a par with a prime. I was skeptical at first, but that lens has really convinced me that I can use zooms for paid work without fear!

There's a working pro called Benjamin Kanarek who's swapped Canon for Pentax posting comments, techniques, stories and images over on http://www.pentaxforums.com/forums, he post under the name benjikan, some of his stuff is amazing.
And here's what he has to say about Matt's fav lens.....
Yesterday while doing my shoot I basically shot with all primes. I did one with the 16-45. Today using the 16-45 exclusively, IMHO I can see no perceptible difference in quality between the primes and the zoom...I am awestruck
