A Walk from Rock Cottage

These were taken in November last year, about a mile from home.
Initially the weather was nice and sunny, however the higher I walked the gloomier the weather turned, end result the heavens opening.

The images are shown in the order taken, you can tell how the weather was changing, together with the challenging light.

Some nice shots there Adrian

As for changeable weather it can be a problem or a plus (as you know) and you seem to have made the most of it in these
K10D, K5 plus plenty of clueless enthusiasm.

Thanks Stu.
Being so close, I aim to go back up there soon.

A few things to explore, old quarry works and settlements, plus a great place to try and tire the dog

Perhaps I could join you at some point as my Dad keeps telling me I need to point my lenses in that area but we haven't got around to it yet

These are fantastic. Love the compositions, the hilly terrain, the natural looking color tones, and the overall sharpness of every shot. The Sigma lens looks like a great combo with the K5.

That being said, I can't help but be distracted by the blown highlights and the slanted horizons (a slight clockwise tilt) in the first five shots. Please forgive me.....I know this is not the critique section per se. And many (if not most) will not care or consider them minor nits. I just think these are exceptional otherwise and hope you will see this constructively for future reference....that is certainly my intent.

Lovely shots, great composition, however the horizon is skewed in all the shots apart from the last but then again it can't be seen in the last.

Nothing to forgive ccd333
I was aware of the blown highlights, L4 did help to some extent (although my PP skills aren't the best).

I do rely on the level meter on the K5, either it's a tad out or it's down to my eyesight with regards to the horizons.

Well after all this time, just found how to fix the horizon in LR

Thanks SteveEveritt, I'll have to make an effort not to rely 100% on the K5's level as being accurate.

The level is great ... for those shots where you haven't got a horizon to use

The shots are great though, numbers 6 and 4 particularly for me.
