Visited Richmond 2 summers ago, including the castle, great place.

I love the first image, feels like it tells a story.

Second image was a little flat for me, I liked the composition though so I did a quick PP in lightroom (hope you don't mind) to see if I could make it come alive a bit more. Here is the result.

I also tried a different crop, which I prefer, take a look here, see what you think.

edit: Just been looking at your gallery as well, impressive stuff, love the bald eagle!

Thanks Paul. I'm going to have to continue with the PP classes I think.

I like the first image, he is in the frame in more ways than one. It's a nice pose and character study.
Is this one of the character's from where you live? This photograph stands as a great initial image for a project in documenting people like this.

I took the liberty of colour correcting and cropping the image, I felt it gave a better balance of things without taking anything away from your shot.

A wonderful character study, but, I feel, the myriad colours are a bit of a distraction, at least to me. A mono conversion should allow the viewer to concentrate on the main subject.
Best wishes,

Andrew

Thanks Paul, Richmond is about 40 mins drive from home. I was there with the Assignment Group from Durham Photographic Society link

I see your point Andrew and had a try with mono but I don't think it improved things. Unfortunately he would not even smile, never mind move in front of a new background.

#1 is great - wonderful shot.

Although I think Paul got the colour right in his version of #2 I didn't like the crop (too cramped) and same goes for #3 - the cropped version has cut right through some of the paintings behind the character. A slight crop of the original and a colour correction between the two versions (original is too saturated and Paul's version too cold for me) would be spot on.

Number one makes me smile

It's just one of those photo's that does this to people - well at least this person
K10D, K5 plus plenty of clueless enthusiasm.
