Photographing them is a nightmare as you need to be constantly aware of where your feet are and where they are so you don't damage them.
Most certainly a job for a flippy screen!

I'd have walked right past without noticing!

Excellent shots and well done for always giving us something to learn!

Good images and I've been educated.

Best regards

I too would have walked right past, whereabouts are they? I especially like the last shot, cool and understated.

Oooo... special! The last picture is lovely.

It's best not to put the location of a very rare plant on a public forum. Some people do not treat them with the respect they deserve even if they are protected by law.

I looked the name up and learned a bit about the habitat. Sadly it's another part of nature that we might not be able to appreciate in another 40 years time.

Thank you David for meeting up and sharing the secret location (which was crawling with orchidologists from far and wide), we had a great time exploring the site and trying not to flatten anything: difficult when flat out on the ground! I hesitate to post my photos of the selfsame plant as they are not of the same standard but here goes anyway. All K1 + 100mm macro with a couple of fill flash from my dinky AF201FG.

I think the hardest shot of the day was that pesky caterpillar! A most enjoyable morning - even though we couldn't understand half of what we were told. That first one of yours is a corker. Amazing how well they have developed and fully bloomed in a few days.
