A Surveyed Presence - Project

This project is under-way and I hope to post here in this thread, what I get for it.
I've re-named it - 'A Surveyed Presence' because personally I have always felt the cross's presence, especially with the figure of Christ on it. So I hope to convey this in my photographs, near or far.

I hope you forgive us for posting a couple of these images again, it's only to provide context.

I think it's cool to have collections of pics of similar/same subjects in different locations across the world, whatever the subject.

Thanks all, for taking a look and commenting.

Smeggy', I agree with you. Especially with this kind of subject. Having said that, I really hope to visit the North York Moors so I can shoot the 'Old Ralph' and 'Young Ralph' crosses for this project too.
Also, I hope to be back in Canada later this year where there is much more of this subject to be found, what with the more different divisions between the churches there.

This is a good theme to work on Paul. You have to search closely to find the the cross in #2 though.

Thanks, David.

Does anyone here live near the North York Moors, out of interest?

I need a guide for visiting 'Old Ralph' and 'Young Ralph' crosses. I'll supply the cans!

The North Yorks Moors aren't far from Durham Paul but I don't know the Old or Young Ralphs.

They're a couple of 1200AD crosses not far from each other.

I think one of these may the one I spent ages looking for some years ago. After tramping across many miles I eventually discovered it in a local museum. It had been move to prevent further degradation.

I hope I'm wrong and that the above is isn't a damper but I'd hate to think you're travelling all that way if the info you're following is out of date.

Thanks Bernard, i'm still following up on these things and they're location. It looks like 'Young Ralph' is still there, as there are recent photos of it posted on Flickr.

I have to say though, ain't it always the ****ing way when the most important subject your after photographing ends up being destroyed, removed or covered over in builder's scaffolding!
