Yes I used the teleconverter to AF on the 500mm shots. it's actually pretty fast .. especially compared to the SDM lenses.

Mike - sharp indeed. Perhaps the comment about the yacht shot was to do with the marker near the RHS - without that, it looks like a wall shot to me. Good one.

Looks like a nice sharp combination. I've never tried
AF on the 1.7x.
