A sad day....

Afternoon PU friends,

Bit of a bittersweet moment for me today. I’ve had an absolute blast with Pentax, especially the K-1 and all the glass I’ve collected over the years. It’s been my trusty companion, capturing the very best of the British Isles in rain, wind, fog, or sunshine… nothing has stopped it in the past nine years!

That said, times change—and so does my eyesight Lately, I’ve found myself juggling two systems: Pentax for Landscapes/Astro, and Canon RF mirrorless for sports and action/video. After much procrastination (and a lot of wistful sighs at the thought of a new Pentax FF), I’ve decided it’s time to bring all my photography into the same ecosystem.

So, over the next week I’ll be putting some of my beloved kit up for sale—or possibly sending it off to MPB. If anyone here fancies a chance to give them a new home, I’ll post a proper classified list soon.

Thanks for all the memories, the advice, and for making this community such a welcoming place. Pentax will always have a special spot in my heart! And so will you guys. Whilst I dry my tears, here is a list of the main stuff....

In reply to you Gibis I generally prefer to manual focus, even with AF glass, so I have considered the possibility of swapping out the mount on some of the lenses and using them on my Canon system... hrmmm maybe

Similar story here. I wanted to move to FF and some of the things I wanted only come with mirrorless. I still have my K-3 though, along with 15mm, 35mm and 70mm DA Limiteds and a few other AF lenses and LOTS of MF lenses. I still shoot the K-3 sometimes, shoot Pentax for film and use MF lenses adapted to my mirrorless.

Get yourself a K&F Concept K to RF adapter and you can use K-mount lenses on your new mirrorless, at least as long as they don't have electronically controlled apertures.

Agree with all the above comments. You are investing in new memories. Travel well and safe journey.

I use K glass on Sony full frame with a manual adapter that can control aperture on lenses that do not have an aperture ring. I still prefer using those lenses on Pentax bodies though, K3 and K5iis - both super cameras.
