You are right Stuey they were persecuted and poisoned, this was much easier with a kite because they will readily take carrion. There was a small number that survived in west Wales and from these and the feeding station at Grigin Farm http://www.gigrin.co.uk/ the population recovered. To the point where some birds were reintroduced into Buckinghamshire.
And the rest as they say.....

Thanks Steve, although it's a bid sad that people could persecute such a majestic bird

I have been to Gigrin Farm and hope to stop by on my way home from our hol's this year also
K10D, K5 plus plenty of clueless enthusiasm.
