A New Arrival

Yes, my 12-24mm Pentax lens arrived today. Buy now pay in 12 months helps a good deal, so thank you Jessops!

Later on, I will open the box and have a first look. This weekend the first shots will be fired.

The two photographs are awesome. I'm really impressed with the edge to edge quality. Excellent composition as well.

Hmm, maybe I'll have to consider one for the next acquisition. Hope Mrs. P. doesn't read this.

The lake shot is stunning John. I like the depth of focus that is achievable with this lens for landscapes. Mine hasn't had much of an outing yet . . . but it will after September when I complete my move to Spain. Sadly the only lakes anywhere near to my house (about an hour's drive) are salt lakes and need a long'ish telephoto/zoom to catch the flamingoes . . .

It is a great lens and I'm glad I chose it over the 10-17mm.

sparkling highlights in the lower left catch your eye and a trail of rocks lead the viewer along the shoreline to the sweaping mountianous skyline, which takes one back through the farmlands to the riplling water.

DA 12-24, 0.9ND Grad + CP (forgot to take it off, was shooting over water prior to taking this shot) 1/20s f/22.0 at 24.0mm iso400.

How's the macro shooting going?

The macro lens is great, thanks for asking, Brian. I'll see if I can't post you an example over the next day or so.

The 1:1 magnification gives it a real edge over the usual 1:2 lenses.

I think Jessops may be receiving a call from me as well... The 12-24 looks like a beauty, reminding me of the 16-45 in contrast/colour rendition/sharpness.
