I agree, all fab shots. Love the backlit poppies and the pier with the foreground rocks.

A pleasing set. Particularly nice colours.

Does anyone else notice that the K3's sensor has a certain special "look"? It's partly due to the extra definition, but not, I think, entirely. It may just be me, however.

Great shots all of them ..... No:3 is my favourite.

I've always been happy with the Sigma 10-20 although it can be a little soft around the edges of the frame. I think this is an issue with most wide angle lenses tho!

I think the K3 images may look slightly different due to the lack of AA filter & high sensor resolution.

I've mentioned this a few times Andrew, it seems to be something that not many people have picked up on, but I've used the K-3 extensively now and had direct comparisons between it, the K-5, the K-5IIs and the K-01. There is something about the sensor on the K-3 that separates it from the other cameras mentioned, obviously there's the greater resolution, but you're right, it's not that that makes it different. It has a way of rendering images similarly to a CCD sensor, much more inherent warmth than the K-5 sensors and this is something that I really like. It's one of the reasons I instinctively reach for the K-3 as my 'first choice camera' when going out anywhere, or when in the garden.

It's a lovely camera, no concerns with the 'noise' issue for me either, I think that's a bit of a 'non issue' unless shooting at 3200 or higher.

Another strong coastline set Tom! Favourite for me is No4 with its beautiful rocks and motion in the foreground, and it is all perfectly balanced I feel. No1 is so tranquil, really lovely with natural tones.

I do wonder if the sandy areas in 2 and 3 are just a tiny bit too bright, perhaps 1/3rd of a stop? And I'm not keen on the colours so much in the last flower one, not very nice green, and I don't find enough objects in the image to be in focus really.

Love them all with #3 being my favourite. Have fond memories of Southwold but weather wasn't as kind on my last visit

Not sure about the hot spot on the groyne in #2. Wonder if it could be toned down a little and the rest of the groyne brightened slightly, to reduce the impact of it.

I say this because I'm a sucker for these foamy backwash pictures. And the effect on this one is absolutely stunning

I think you've hit the nail on the head, David, or at least come very close to voicing my impressions. There's definitely something special about the sensor's rendering of a scene.

I remember coveting the 10mp CCD sensor in the K10 and K200 long before I could afford a second hand one. I have not been disappointed. I feel I've not come close to getting the best out of the K5 sensor and it must be me as so many people love it. I will have another go with it later in the summer. I'm determined to make it work.

I'm not a Luddite: I loved the images from the MX-1 straight out of the box but for now I can't let go of my K100 with that lovely Pentax M 28mm 3.5...

How can one person get more from a sensor than any other? If its not just differences in exposure settings, ISO choices etc, what else can be different in results from the same model between individuals? Could it be a change on processing approaches that you have made with your K5 files Andrew?
