A Few Nice Birds

Well, I think they're nice, even if they are not rare or exotic. Taken a few months ago at RSPB Radipole Lake nature reserve. In the 1980s my home overlooked the reserve and the quickest way to walk into town (Weymouth) was the footpath across the reserve. Seeing these birds (or rather their ancestors) was a regular event. It takes a bit more effort now to go and see them - and it means paying parking charges to the local council .

All with K3iii + Sigma 100-300mm f4 + 1.4x TC.

Nice set ! Liked 4th more, looks as if its in somewhat pensive mood

Spent many happy hours at Radipole Lake ( long before it was a reserve)
Good set of bird images. Personal favourite is number 1, lovely portrait and for me swans are synonymous with the lake.

Thanks folks. It's unusual for me to come across cooperative wildlife, but these were presumably well used to having humans around. And the swan was far more interested in another swan which was behind me on the other side of the footpath than it was in that strange human with a camera.

As far as I can find out, Radipole Lake became an RSPB reserve in 1976. Does that tie in with your memories?

That feels about right.
Radipole Lake and the adjacent park were a frequent haunt for us from the mid 60's. By the time I had my first SLR in the mid 70's I am pretty sure it was a designated reserve
