A few from the last couple of days.

Went for a wander round a little bit of forest land this morning and got the first few.
Was a bit gutted as the Stag ran right past me while the camera was in the bag, by the time I got it out it had run far away.
The shot was taken with a 300mm prime and is a massive crop.

1 and 3 for me mike.The quality of number 1 is still great after such a crop.Takes me back to when i first started photography i was out with a friend and we saw a stag so i shouted to him look there's a stag then i reached for my camera and it had ran offwhat a ribbing i got.Loving the contrast in colours of number 3

Sam and the Cat for me! And I'm not a cat person. 3 and 5 also stand out.
But they are all really good.
So whereabouts in the UK are you now you are back in Blighty?

In a place called New Milton (South coast), 5 mins drive from the beach and 5 mins drive in the opposite direction to the New Forest.

Magpie and the cat for me Mike, absolutely stunning.
And Sam's portrait stands out definitely. You achieved the lighting that just right for it. B&W definitely enhancing it further. And the posture and the expression couldn't just have been planned at all. Did you catch it in the spur of the moment as if you were about to tell him something and he turned his face towards you?

I want to learn to capture portraits like that , been waiting for my little ones to heal from their colds so that I dont catch them with the nostrils full of things that I will have to then spend hours PP,

My vote has to go to the cat, lovely image.

The cat is by far the best image with nice treatment, but its not framed properly, its too central in the image, it needs a crop on the left side now.
One law of photography is to give more space to the area the subject is lookin' at.

I hope you don't mind me sayin' this.

Never been one to take much notice of "Laws" but I have no problem you saying it

Yeah, of course, I strongly believe that too. They're jus' guidelines really.
I didn't mean 'law' sorry, I meant 'rule'.

I thought rules were meant to be broken as well

I think photographers take and edit shots to please themselves and as long as it does that then it's a good shot in the artist’s eyes even if it breaks all the rules.

One pleasure in not taking shots for a living is you can do whatever you like, go for it you rule breakers
