A Fall Surprise?

There is something in the air. The rumors are running high. Will there be a Pentax Fall Surprise? The indications seem to reflect that there may be. From some of the posts I have read from credible sources and my own info it seems to lean in that direction. I could be wrong but there could be a major lens and body Blitzkrieg...

I shall hang on to my cash for a while yet. But I am interested to see whether the announcement is in the autumn, followed by a long long wait for the products (as per normal for Pentax) or whether they will get their finger out and actually have the products for autumn.

I can imagine a new body, with 12 or 15MP CMOS chip and higher shutter speeds and flash sync, but I think it is most unlikely that there will be any lenses that haven't already been shown on the roadmap.

The last thing Pentax needs to do right now is to increase demand for lenses. It can't handle existing demand.

If "lens blitzkreig" means actually delivering lenses, then that will itself be a surprise, and a very welcome one.

Well i have only just got a K10D also but if they were too bring out a new body it would'nt bother me seeing as they would probably bring out a proffesional body considering they have entry level and expert DSLRS, in which case it would be way too expensive for me and also more than what i need.

However they should concentrate on bringing out some big telephoto lenses for the k10

While a new body would be nice, Pentax needs to get their lenses out, far too many gaps in the range at the moment...

Basically what would be ideal would be Scheider badged versions of some of the lenses on the roadmap that would be sold at the prices Jacobs are selling the D-Xenon 50-200...

Give the K10D the lenses it deserves, then we can start dreaming about what comes after the K10...

I reckon any announcement of new lenses would be disastrous - Pentax has a fair amount of egg on its face over supply already For us enthusiasts that's just about manageable (LBA not withstanding), but for a pro that absolutely requires equipment on demand that isn't good for their reputation. Ben - you may be ok having a better than usual access to Pentax supply

I'm still wondering what on earth happened to the 645D? Has it been ditched, like the MZ-D? It's gone all very quiet.
