No, James, but I was prepared to make a swift getaway if discovered. (Well, not that swift, to be honest!)
I wish I was a bit bolder as regards street photography.

Best wishes,

Then I should have been able to borrow their 8mm lens instead of having to back up!
Best wishes,

Andrew, you've captured an interesting image here, one which I'm sure is worth a thousand words. I'm not always as brave as I should be when it comes to 'street' photography, I wish I was!
The only slight issues I have are the vest which looks like it could be suffering from burn-out (and as such is a little distracting, though not significantly so), and the top of the frame where the boat has had its top cut off (though as speed is of the essence in any street photography, it's better to get a shot than not).
Overall though, it's a strong image that made me smile.

If you can't say something nice about Pentax, you won't say anything at all.

Sneery overtone to this thread.

I largely agree with Robbie. (Must be getting young!)
The problem of the boats would have been greatly mitigated by using a wider aperture. Or a longer lens, had one been available. Or shooting from higher up or lower down, which were probably not practicable.
The vest is a problem, but difficult to overcome in such strong light.
Otherwise, a very strong image.

Thanks for commenting everyone. Yes, all valid remarks bar Doug's; I'm sorry if the tone came across as sneery. It wasn't intended as such. Ironic or wry, maybe.
In future I'll stick to posting less controversial subjects such as rust, rot and the odd (very odd!) landscape. Don't mean to give offence to anyone.
The exposure's not right, with significant burnt-out as spotted by Robbie and George. I was metering manually and had to make a, not very well educated, guess as it was a one-shot opportunity. The boats are way too sharp really and detract from the subject but again, I didn't have time to play about with aperture.

I just checked. I wasn't in Dorset this week, and a think I'd have recalled sitting next to someone in a vest and jogging pants.
I don't think Doug's comment was aimed only at you Andrew, other comments were also a tad sneery.
As a fatty I could take offence, but I won't. I am used to such an attitude from others.
A little less comment regarding the subjects size and a little more on the photo as a whole might have been more tactful.

Point taken, Gwyn, but I started it, as the kids say! I'm glad you didn't take offence.
Of course had more suitable, tasteful and less revealing clothes been worn then there wouldn't have been a photograph in the first place...

Summer days too have their drawbacks. Photography has never been so honest (or so cruel).
