A Bit of a Bargain

Not really a tele-zoom man so not worth investing in an autofocus lens, but I couldn't resist a Sigma 70-210 on e-Bay for £1.56 (sic) last week.

I tried it first in the garden and then on the sea-front. I think the results from it are quite good, although not intended to be examples of great pictures. I didn't use a tripod (I know, I know) and just relied on the K100's vibration correction.

Best wishes,

Andrew

A lens for the price of a box of fudge and 3 stick of rock?! What a bargain.

Looks like a perfectly good lens to me Andrew. In fact I think I had one once, and it did me proud (until I dropped it!)

Maybe a busy picture, as Stefan says, but a good way to test your bargain, imho. Looks very sharp to me.
Best regards
Terry

Yes, not a great shot, Stefan, but I was just pointing the lens at different things to see how it performed and how easy it was to hold steady, focus etc. Not sure how much use I'll get out of it but who knows?

The donkey sign belongs to a gift shop and alludes to the fcat that donkey rides are given to children on the beach.

Who says photography HAS to be an expensive hobby? My point in showing these pictures is to show that if one owns a Pentax DSLR, then backwards compatability and inbuilt shake-reduction, means one can build up a collection of, admittedly, modest lenses which will be fun and usable.
Best wishes,

Andrew
