If you could get one, maybe the Limited 31mm f1.8, but it's not really a wide angle on digital.
There's also the 43mm f1.9 Limited, also only really a wide standard lens and not much better than your 50mm.
Wide and fast is tricky to find, but on a tripod fast isn't really needed. For increased DOF wide lenses are usually used stopped down, although if you have something else in mind then that's a different matter.

Well, because you need to stop down to get good front to back sharpness and always go to ISO 200 unpunished on the K10D you could consider ditching your kit lens and get the: Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 EX DC Macro instead. A wonderful piece of glass and well within your budget. Or you could go for the: smc PENTAX DA 21mm F3.2AL Limited Lens. This one almost weights nothing, so very portable.

from the reviews I've seen (I don't have one), the main disadvantage is that while it's razor sharp in the middle, the corners are terrible.

Yeah basically, from all the reviews i have read, its one of the sharpest lenses around in the centre (Sharper than the 31LTD at F/2.8-5.6), but by the corners its one of the worst for sharpness. Its okay if your looking for heavy DOF where the centre is going to be in focus and the corners bokeh, but as a plain wide angle lens its a no go.

Does it really have to be as fast as that? There might be an F2.8 lens that would be better overall than the Sigma 30. Perhaps even the humble Pentax A or F 28mm F2.8?
I really love my 50mm 1.4 (on the K10D is more like 75mm?), but now I am beginning to find the focal length is not wide enough for interior shots.
Has anyone any suggestions, min. f/1.4 - 1.7 that would be suitable, there are so many out there, I wd pay up to about £300.

Have you seen the Photozone review? Granted it's on a Canon, but it doesn't look great to me. Could be a dodgy sample though...?

Lot's to do at the moment...
just working over hours, moving to another flat, renovating.
Today I also have to shoot a few pictures at my colleges wedding.
Therefor, no time for example pics.
One (my) thought: What's the use of the worlds best lens if I can't afford it?
The Sigma 30/1.4 does pretty good for me since I concentrate on persons not on architecture.

I do wish you people would stop taking about this Sigma 30/1.4 I feel the urge coming on. The Pentax 50/1.4 is a bargain but too long for general use IMO but a 30 ...
