77mm Limited info

SRS Microsystems have the 77mm 1:1.8 Limited lens in Silver in stock at £559.00 (I'm not giving any more information than that )

The same lens in Black is apparantly only available for the Japanese market or via grey import. I was tempted to get a black one from china but hey, they can copy anything and there's no Pentax warranty with it.

My silver one should arrive tomorrow. I hope it's as good as you say it is George

This post has just served as a reminder that I had a little job to do...

Some of you may recall that in early 2005 I imported a number of the Black Ltd lenses from a shop Japan and offered them for sale via this forum or ebay - young George picked up my silver 31mm as I couldn't justify having that and a black one!!!

I believe that I still have one of the Black 77mm's available for sale (can't remember exactly as I still haven't unpacked some boxes from moving house earlier this year - I did have 4 in stock but can only recall selling 3 of them last year). I shall go and have a proper look this eve when I get home from work...

The black Ltd's not only perform superbly they also look awesome when matched with something like an LX, *ist-D etc...

If anyone is interested, let me know - it'll be brand new, original box/packaging, pouch, never been mounted etc... Much sooner offer it up on here first before going to the hassle of writing an ebay listing - good home and all that!!!

Pah, and I'm just around the corner from you at the moment as well. Too late for me but I'm sure somebody will be interested. I can always stick some black gaffer tape around mine when it arrives

You wouldn't have any more 31mm blacks left would you?
I think a silver one might look odd on my *istD.

Sorry - I wish... have only ever seen 1 of the black 31mm's and I own it I asked the shop in Japan for weeks and weeks if they could get hold of more and no joy! I had a look around on the B&H website yesterday and they have both silver and black 31mm's in stock at around the $870 mark - not a bad deal at all even with the dreaded VAT and import duty

Have been waiting for a while to see if I can sneak a work trip out to NY to see about bringing a couple back with me... Only problem is that she who must be obeyed would rinse my credit card on other superfluous shopping items

I was able to order black 31mm and 77mm lenses from B&H last summer, they may or may not still have them in stock. They are being used on my *st D.

I've just realised that when Spirit of Will mentioned selliing a 31mm to "young" George, he was referring to me.

I can only say that in all other respects his descriptions have been totally accurate.

lol, so Arthur, are you happy with it on your "D" - this is my intention.

Thanks for the info everyone.

I have another question about this but I think it might deserve another thread...

Yes, they're perfect on the D. And they are full-frame, should I have a desire to shoot some Kodachome.

This will be one of my first Pentax lenses.

Great reviews, and currently on sale. About $679 Canadian ($591 USD), and that's the 'instant' price, I don't have to mail in a rebate and wait six weeks.

It's the ideal length, and relatively fast at f/1.8. The 85mm 1.4 would be even better, but several reviews say the 85mm is a little soft until 2.8, which defeats the purpose, I think if you can't shoot good 1.4 pics.
