You might consider looking for a screw thread SMC Takumat 300mm f4 lens, sometimes found second hand for around £299.00
These are quite convenient to use on digital SLRs, without the fiddling needed with the early bayonet lenses.

The 6x7 adaptor is rare and expensive and the 6x7 lenses are pretty heavy. John's suggestion is an excellent one.

With a 67 lens you have no automation whatsoever, so you would even have to stop down the aperture manually, probably not a good idea.

How easy to be confused.
Another forum indicates that a 165 6x7 plus adapter, plus 1.7 converter ends up being lighter than the 300 f4 and can out perform it. The pictures produced as confirmation excites me.
I have no experience of either but I am interested in this route and would be pleased with comments from those with this experience.

Given that good quality second hand lenses etc. are not loosing value why not try it and see? If you find it isn't for you, you won't loose anything selling the kit on, you might even make a profit.
I'd be interested in your findings. I am still looking longingly at a 6x7 outfit, but so far my head has won the battle with my heart.

This is the thread Thoramay is talking about. I was reading it with some interest last night. It certainly contradicts several things I've heard on this forum about the supposed lower resolution of medium format lenses.
It probably doesn't make much difference, but the chap is using a Tamron BBAR 2x MC7 TC, not the 1.7 Pentax TC. I used to have that Tamron TC, it was good but no better than the Kenko 2x Macro focussing TC (which I kept instead after testing both together). I would expect the Pentax 1.7 to be better.
Thoramay you should also note that he said it was better than his K 300mm f4. He hasn't compared it to any other 300mm lenses. I also question how a lens with a inexpensive 2x TC can be better than a decent 300mm prime.

Have now purchased an adapter for mamiya 245 to Pentax K10
I have access to a mamiya 150 lens, plus others in this range from a fellow club member to try.
Should be fun. Will let you know how I progress with this set up.

Reading on another forum it is suggested that a 6x7 lens with adapter would possibly meet my needs.
Have read other comments that suggest this is not really viable for wildlife shots.
It is the cheaper option in terms of cash but is it really the best use of the cash.
Have anyone taken this route and could offer guidance for me.
