From the brief time I spent with them I'd say the older lens has fractionally better IQ but the newer one is much easier to use.
The 70-210 is manual focus and has a push-pull zoom that I never got on with. My copy also suffered from zoom creep with the lens held in anything but a horizontal position. I preferred the 50-200 despite it being slower at the long end and a bit softer wide open.
Not much between them though so it's down to personal preference really.
