43mm special

It's a version of the 43mm Limited that Pentax produced in Leica-M mount, hence it wouldn't be much use to most folk on here. It comes with its own finder (43mm finders aren't a common length!) and was for the Japaese market only. They still pop up new from time-to-time so it may well still be in production.
Whilst it may appear expensive, compared to some genuine Leica glass...

Ah, that's a reasonable explanation, even though seller states it's "to fit" Pentax. I actually thought it looked more like a Leica lens than a Pentax - and now I have to admit that "L" on the box should have helped me enough to put 2 + 2 together.

I think Kim C had one of these for his Leica but I've not seen him on this forum for ages...
I'd imagine one of the main draws would be the focal length; Leitz are quite conservative and stick to the 21 / 24 / 28 / 35 / 50 / etc range. The max aperture is also a little outside the Leica norm, at f1.9 it falls between Summicrons (f2) and Summiluxs (f1.4). The biggest advantage of the Pentax though would certainly be price, although it's actually a bit dearer than a lot of the Voigtlander M-mount lenses.
I doubt the Pentax gives much (if anything) away quality wise though.

this a rare copy of FA 43mm Ltd, which is made by pentax for Leica, a bit like 'OEM'. it's got very limited number and only produced for a short period time.

When the 43mm first came out, one of the photography mags tested it against a Summicron and the top-end Nikon 50mm lens.interesting. I wonder how the 43mm Ltd stacks up against the likes of the Sumicron
The 43mm won.

Denmark .. or somewhere else
Doing a ebay-search I stumbled across an "special" edition of the fa 43. link
I have never heard about this thing and google didn't make my wiser. What does the collective wisdom of "Pentaxuser" say?
In any case, it's more than I'm prepared to pay but it might be something for those of you with money to spend.
...
Btw. I did learn today that price-wise it does not make much of a difference anymore if I buy from Britain or in USD. The Pound has taken some beatings lately.
