3rd party batteries

John we've done the price per Ah already, the table is flawed and is quite out of date.
All the author was concerned with was accuracy of claimed capacity.
No consideration of price, longevity or value were made.
I would like to see a table with a comparison of batteries used in the same way for a year of average use then make a judgment.
It won't happen so currently it's a case of my dad is bigger than your dad.
Pentax batteries are probably better specified and better quality and last longer and the claimed capacity is accurate and they are safer.
3rd party batteries are so good value that I can't afford not to use them and keep my expensive pentax battery tip top for when I really need the juice.

John the link works if you copy and paste it, I can't seem to make it 'live' on the forum though.

I agree that anecdotal evidence isn't scientific But no one has looked closely enough to find any scientific facts that show Pentax batteries to be better value than 3rd party batteries. And frankly I don't believe any such data exists. We get all that, but anecdotal evidence is not scientific.

In the meantime I'm enjoying using 3rd party batteries at a 1/10th of the price of Pentax batteries with no performance loss. That mayb e anecdotal to yu but it's real world experienceto me and IMO life is too short to worry about batteries to the extent where a quest to find scientific date is worth trawling for.

Incidentally, battery care is important. And these days Lithium cells are viewed as dangerous items - just try to post one somewhere. Now that might be overkill, or it might be a real hazard, but it's right to mention it without it being called scaremongering, which clearly it isn't.
It is scaremongering in the context of real life and the amount of real reports of catastrophic failures of 3rd party batteries compared to the catastrophic failure of 3rd party batteries.Incidentally, battery care is important. Besides the regulations on posting Lithium batteries isn't discriminatory. They don't give special exception to Pentax batteries because they are super duper safe compare d to the rest so it's an invalid argument in a discussion about Pentax versus 3rd party.
There are billions of lithium batteries in the world. the amount that have failed is very rare in proportion. There's no evidence either anecdotal or scientific that shows 3rd party batteries more prone to catastrophic failure than batteries with a Ppentax label on them.
it is scaremongering

Everybody is entitled to their opinion, so we should rest the subject lest it become pointlessly tedious.

What bothers me in these threads is the apparent assumption that all 3rd party batteries are somehow equal.

Cheers Gamka sorry John if copy and paste was a bit difficult for you
And Yes to Gartmore, even 3rd party batteries supposedly of the same make and type can vary because they're probably made in back garden shed type factories in deepest darkest Shenzen and just labled the same.

Where's that come from? What bothers me in these threads is the apparent assumption that all 3rd party batteries are somehow equal.
Sound similar to me saying, funny how the people most anti 3rd party batteries are the ones with least experience of using them.
Lurking is shirking.!

People use phrases like 'off eBay' and often don't specify the manufacturer, perhaps because they have no idea who the manufacturer is. I'm personally unkeen on third party batteries preceisely because of my experience of using them as outlined earlier.
