During a right battering of rain and hail, I thought it would be a great idea to visit a local beach and see what the light was like. I can now say, wearing a waterproof jacket and denim shorts isn't a good mix when the heavens open, sideways at you, and not only does the rain hit you, but the water runs down a waterproof jacket and soaks you even more! It was worth it though!

And definitely worth getting wet in order to get these. The light, the shapes, the tones - love 'em!

What isn't generally known is that the reason why ancient peoples built stone circles is so they could be used as a refuge by people caught, like you, in driving rain without appropriate wet weather clothing. A stone for every possible wind direction means shelter from the driven rain whichever way it is coming. I didn't realise their significance until seeing Mrs L use a stone circle for that very purpose. Pity they didn't build them on beaches... .

Have you dried out yet? My favourite of a great trio is number two. I like the way the triangle of the boulders is mirrored in the clouds

They are all remarkable but #2 takes the soaking !

Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

I didn't know about the stone circles Steve, and I agree, why didn't they build them on beaches! I could see it coming across the channel in front of me:

Just before it hit I shot this and you can see the rain coning down hard in the channel, maybe this was the time to leg it to the old lime works. This is a grade 2 listed building that has no roof but at least has walls that could of sheltered me better!
If you're on the FB Pentaxians group, I posted in the comments to these images a video of the rain as it found me, wellies, denim shorts and a waterproof coat!!
