Ahh, ok - it must have been the Takumar I was thinking of. They are, after all, pretty identical to the K28.

Yes, it is a lovely little zoom, one of the best of the plethora of standard zooms in the F/FA series and generally as cheap as chips. I am very pleased with mine.just got a f35 70 and it is a cracking bit of kit

I'll say! Just so long as it doesn't have any mould as a result of the original case.
It might be just bad luck but both lenses I own which came with the original solid cases either had mould or have developed a bit since. My theory is that it doesn't breathe terribly well, so any moisture is trapped inside. I've had no trouble with the Lowepro cases I buy, although I do leave the little silica gel bag in the net inside the lid which will help.

The 35-70mm 'A' f/4 constant is also a very good lens.

I try not to leave lenses either in their original leather cases or in leather everready cases for very long. Assuming a dry warm not too humid storage place (i.e., something like my study) keeping lenses out on a shelf is the best/easiest way to keep them. I have and love the FA28-70mmAL F4.
Its a great lens with lovely colours. I felt it was a step up IQ wise from the original 18-55mm and partners my 10-24 & 70-300 Tammys perfectly.

I've now got what used to be an FA 28-70mm. On the plus side it did come with a working MZ-10 and the whole lot cost me a fiver!
I could probably get the focus set up properly and clean the elements, but it looks as though the rear elements are suffering from the dreaded separation problem as there's some sort of cloudiness (not fungus).
