15mm update do you think?

Posted 13/11/2022 - 14:22 Link
Thought I'd ask the forum their view of potential updates for the DA 15mm F4 ED AL Limited, or the likes of the 14mm F2.8 ED IF.

With the new APS-C cameras that Pentax are now manufacturing, do you think they'll be updating these lenses as well?

If not, I'm interested in what prime for wide angle you might suggest. (I'm looking at the 14 - 15mm range or so and not a zoom like the 11-18mm.) It's about size and compactness.

Thanks all.

Don't think they will update the 15mm again, it's been done once already with the HD coating and the 14mm is (imo) dead in the water.

If you want a compact Pentax prime then the 15mm is it really, it's a good lens in most respects.

I'd be surprised if there were any updates to Pentax wide angle APS-c offer anytime soon but, who knows!
I believe Irix and Samyang have wide angle offers in Pentax mount, could be worth looking at.

I don't think there are any updates to any of the DA Limited lenses on the horizon. For a compact wide-angle prime the 15mm is the start and end of the list really.

If you're willing to go for a zoom the Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 out-performs it and I'd say the DA 16-85mm does too, though it's not quite so wide.
