Sadly the photo doesn't seem to be on their website.
It might be in the e-paper section but you have to subscribe to that.

Thanks polchraine - I think the video comes over more as harrowing - if you get a chance to view the still photo please try - it conveys so much in one frame.

I found it very difficult to watch the video to be honest.
Some of my earliest memories of watching sport on TV involve Higgins (I turn 30 this year), and it is shocking to see the condition he is in now, especially when I think he is only 4 years older than my Dad.

If you can't say something nice about Pentax, you won't say anything at all.
Apparently.

Hi robbie_d - I too only watched a short clip - I wanted all my friends here to appreciate the photograph of a great sportsman capturing his decline and reflecting the problems he has faced - I had the priviledge of watching him in an exhibition match back in the 70s at my dad`s snooker club - he was quite amazing ( not always the nicest guy around ! ) but rather like watching Ayrton Senna or Eusebio or Mohammed Ali.
My wife is very upset by the article and the photo - there is no way I will let her see the video based on my short viewing.
He is 4 years my junior and my cancer is prostate and under control,so I can only wish him well in his attempt to rebuild his life somewhat - sadly the Guinness and the smoking do not bode well for him.

I have just been bowled over by the most poignant and revealing picture I have seen in a long time - Daily Telegraph Sports section today 09/02/10 - by Cathal McNaughton, of the fallen hero to many - Alex - Hurricane - Higgins.
It will be on the Telegraph website as well I imagine - but I have to say how much I am moved by this portrait of a once great man, ravaged by cancer and drink.
Brilliant photo
