I don't run benchmarks and I've never taken a picture of a page from a newspaper. I have the 12-24 and think it's great. I like the resulting photos.

That is not fair leaving the DA 12-24 mm last
I would say its build quality is superb as well ,my DA 12-24 survived after a great fall.

I am baffled by the criteria they set out for assessing lenses....like marking down the Pentax D-FA 100 macro on features....all I care that you can adjust aperture and focus, have 1:1 reproduction, and great image quality. What else do you need apart from focus lock???
