*istD Value Question?

I have an *istD which a young girl I know would possibly like to buy for her collage course but I have no idea of its value on the second hand market? I also have the Sigma 28/80 Aspherical and the Sigma 70/300 APO. (Also maybe the AF-500FTZ flash) I'll most likely give her a load of batteries and an old camera bag for nothing. Has anyone any idea of the hardware value. CHEERS Vic.
PS. The camera is fitted with a Battery Grip BG1. Vic

I had an *ist D with the DA 18-55 and the Sigma 70-300 APO Macro which I gave to my father for his birthday.

I would have put at value of around 75-100 pounds on the camera and standard lens, plus another 30 for the telephoto zoom. The grip adds another 20 pounds (I sold mine separately). Doesn't sound like a lot if you bought the *ist D when they were 1200 pounds (:shock, but having seen the bodies go for around 150 pounds on t'Bay I guess that should give you an idea of the range of prices....

But you know the condition of the camera as well...

Good luck

Thanks Peter that at least gives me a starting point. I use the *ist as a backup just now to my K10 but a little extra will come in handy if and when I get round to a new K7 later in the year. I'm still open to other estimates from other people. Keep-em-Coming. Any idea about the value of the AF-500FTZ if I do decide to sell it? CHEERS Vic.

I bought a little used ist D and grip, from another forum member recently, for £200. A fair price, I thought.

I have replied to this already - but it seems to have disappeared.

I would suggest that a body only would be worth significantly under £100 dependent on condition.

Do you want to raise money or help a student on their way? That will also influence what you ask.

I too have a *istD - from when they were only available in Japan and will keep it as a back up as the value is so low.

The istD fetches a bit more than the other, later versions - I've not noticed one go for much under £200 when I've been looking at them on E-bay. The Battery grip is pretty rare - bought 2 to go with my istDs and neither cost me less than £60.

A Sigma 70-300 can be picked up new for about £80 on E-bay (the cheaper version).

Hope that helps. At the end of the day, it's not a arms length disposal, so it's about what ever you are comfortable with as a price.
