I notice that the istD has a bulb setting, but I cannot find a place to use my cable release. Am I just missing it, or do I need to buy a different kind.....or do I need that remote control that I am reading about?

See Pages 13 and 146 of the manual. Let me know if you find one, I've had CS205 on order for more than three months.

Hi Ava,

Yes, as Malcolm said, the CS205 is the right wired remote (0.5m cable). It plugs into the little 2.5mm connector (like a small headphone socket) on the bottom left of the *istD. (If anyone's electronically minded, it's just a simple 2.5mm stereo connector - I gave the pinouts on another thread: https://www.pentaxuser.com/forum/ftopic266.html&highlight=cs205)

You can also do it with the InfraRed remote, but I would stick to the wired remote for "serious" work. The CS205 has a "lock" setting so you don't have to wear your finger out holding the button down!

FYI, The CS205 is also used by the MZ-7.

Malcolm,

SRS Microsystems are showing the CS205 (for MZ6, it says) for £24.99 - http://www.srsmicrosystems.co.uk - not sure about their stock levels.

Thanks Matt. Park Cameras, where I placed the order more than three months ago, phoned last Monday to tell me that Pentax UK had told them, that there were none in the country and that would remain the case for another month.

I found two ancient Sony LANC cables among my oddments so I am thinking about butchering one of them.

I suppose I am duty bound now to give Park another month to come up with the item.

Hi
Been lurking on this forum for some time now. Just thought I'd let you know that I got my cable release from Warehouse express.com. Came straight away and have always had good curteous service from them. They are competitively priced and often have special offers (free binoculars etc) and no I'm not in anyway conected to them!

Thanks but there is no way I'm going to add 33% to the cost for postage on an item that weighs almost nothing - especially as Park said they would send one post free by way of compensation for various problems.
