[b]Optio 430RS & Compact Flash Cards Compatability[/b]

Hi Everyone,

I'm a Novice to this digital photography and was wondering if someone could help me out:

I have recently bought a second hand Pentax Optio 430RS digital camera which only has 11MB internal memory storage. I was looking to buy additional memory to take/store more pictures as the camrea did not come with additional memory card. The camera takes CF card.

I've been informed that there are two types of compact flash memory cards - TYPE 1 & TYPE 2. Could someone PLEASE advise what is the difference and which type is compatable with my OPTIO 430RS?

Furthermore, I've been told that there may be a limitation on the size of memory card I can use (ie 128MB, 256MB, 512MB, 1GB etc), could someone PLEASE advise what is the maximum that I could use with my OPTIO 430RS because I as thinking of buying .

I thought most Pentax digital cameras took SD cards?

But back to CompactFlash - Type I cards are pretty much universal and are slightly thinner than the Type II cards, which are the same dimensions as a Microdrive. Cameras that take type II and Microdrive will happily take Type I as well.

If a camera is designed only for Type I then the Type II and Microdrives will not fit.

I'll have to take my camera to shop to make sure I get the right type (but I think it is type 1 that is needed for my Optio 430RS camera).

Would anyone know what is the maximum capability of Optio 430RS camera (ie. what is the maximum card size it would take)? I have contact PENTAX but am waiting for a reply.
