The lens hood won't aid in shooting, but it can be used when shooting macro without getting in the way.

Well, that does depend on where the light is coming from. Shooting outside, near water for instance, it could well prevent unwanted reflections.

I bought mine for macro but find I use it for much more. It's a great lens and you have got it for a song!

As with all lenses, a hood is good protection, shades the front element to stop loss of contrast from side light and makes the lens look cool. It can stop you bumping into things when doing macro shots as well!

Don't forget a tripod is very helpful for stopping movement on those real close ups. Took me a while to realise that when your depth of field is so small, as it is on macro shots, the small back and forward movements your body causes makes the image move out of focus.

I'm sure you'll enjoy the new lens.

I think it's the first 1st hand lens I've bought out of 8 lenses!
See you're selling this lens mow or one like it, have you gone off macro photography or are you upgrading?

1 quick question- can the lens hood be used to aid macro shooting? It seems very long, almost like a tube.
Hi, I'm confused as elsewhere on here you state you're selling a DFA 100mm 2.8... Are you a fan or just a dealer please?

This thread started a few months ago. Elsewhere in another thread the OP say's he's selling because he's not getting anything out of macro.
