But do you actually see their photos? There's 'getting it' and there's actually getting it. I'm often doing tuition with people who just can't get a sharp shot of birds in flight, whatever the system they're using, but they also say "wow, that's it" when they get a shot that I would reject.

Anyway, I have the Tamron 1.4x, and I don't use it (rarely need anything longer than my 300mm). I'm open to offers.

Any teleconverter released by pentax is most possibly only going to be compatible with the da* range of lenses as the da lenses may not be fast enough to handle a teleconverter.

Which leaves just the da* 200mm and the da* 300mm the 200 with a teleconverter will not be as good as the da* 300mm and i doubt the teleconverter will even work withh the 300mm if it does it will be no better than one of the bigmas so i think pentax will need to bring out faster longer glass first before a teleconverter.

If Pentax do release a new teleconverter given the price of the new canon tele i wouldnt be surprised to see Pentax having an rrp of around £300 or even more...

I don't think the existing TC's are too bad optically with the right lenses. Focusing is a bit iffy. I took this today with the DA* 300 and the Kenko 1.5. Focusing was sluggish and I ended up using manual but mis-focused quite a few. This one was ok though:-
