Welcome Bret!! Looking forward to some car photos. Also would like to pick your brain about the 10-24 and how you find it but that's another thread.
Finally, no offense to you Brett but I completely disagree with Hyram, your job doesn't sound interesting at all (You write instruction manuals and stuff like that - is that right?)

thanks for all the welcomes!
Yes, it's tech writing, but... there are interesting things and not-so interesting things, as with all jobs. It pays the bills....
Lahti is OK, Helsinki is pretty cool, but up north is slightly more photogenic if you ask me. Big country, no-one here

I figure I ought to introduce myself....
I'm originally from the UK but haven't lived there for nigh on 16 years. I live and work in Finland with my family; my trusty K10D is hopefully being replaced shortly by a K7.
I'm findable on various forums on the 'net, mainly to do with audio or my car (an Audi A2). For work I write technical English. I had my first photobook published in November 09 for one of the A2 forums.
Enough personal stuff...
Kitbag: Stealth reporter 650 or Fastpack200; K10D+grip, 28-70/f4, D-FA50/f2.8, SMC-A24/2.8, 50-200, 18-55, M-135/f3.5, M-85/f2, Tamron 10-24, 2xEF500 supers + cactus v4 triggers. 190XB +804 RC2, 322B bracket, arm + superclamp. Homemade remote. Various Sandisk Extreme III SDs.
Looking forward to contributing.
My stuff right now is on 23hq, though I fear I'm going to have to move (back) to flickr for more exposure - *sigh*.
