Assume you mean a 50mm Sigma macro? Any light source will do just for the purpose of focusing. I am older than you and generally do not have a problem with manual lenses - as long as I focus at maximum aperture. Mind you, if you cannot see to focus, you will probably need a flash for your actual sho...

I have the same lens and it is indeed a good one. I don't know if John or another mod can correct the thread title to show f/2.0 instead of f/2.8, as this might help considerably in selling the lens.
