WTB 24mm 1:2.8 Manual focus lens with 'A' setting

Posted 20/03/2010 - 14:13 Must it be 24mm? I've no idea! As I said, I'm new to this. My first purchase was a Pentax 50mm 1:1.7 which has proved excellent, even with my limited talents. I now want a prime lens that gives me a wider angle, I think 24mm is the best option, but I haven't actua...

WTB 24mm 1:2.8 Manual focus lens with 'A' setting

Man, you're a few months ago! :) I bought a chinon 50mm f1.7 (a re-branded Pentax 50mm f1.7) and then the Miranda 24mm afterwards! Then came the big mirror lens and a Pentax FA 50mm f1.4. I really like the 24mm, I'd actually prefer wider, but they start getting real slow after 24mm. The bes...

WTB 24mm 1:2.8 Manual focus lens with 'A' setting

Around Fifty quid-ish, delivered. A 24mm would be about the same angle of view as a 35mm lens on a full frame (35mm film camera). A 28mm would give about a 42mm view. Only 7mm, but because of the magnification, it makes quite a bit of difference! If it's a wide angle you want, 24mm makes more ...

WTB 24mm 1:2.8 Manual focus lens with 'A' setting

Hey, there's 2 28mm , and , going for cheapish on Ebay, 3 hours left. If you can get it for less than 20GBP it'd be a pretty good deal. EDIT: There are a ton of 24/28mm f:2.0/2.8 going in the next few hours on the bay. Keep an eye out and you may be able to get something nice.

WTB 24mm 1:2.8 Manual focus lens with 'A' setting

There's two sigma miniwide ii 28mm lenses listed at 'The Camera House' for 25 quid each. I presume these are A lenses but i'd check first.

WTB 24mm 1:2.8 Manual focus lens with 'A' setting

Aside from Pentax lenses (likely to be three figures for 24mm), the best regarded of the older 24mm lenses are the Sigma Ultrawide II. The same lens is also available rebadged as a Carl Zeiss Jena, but for silly money. I recently bought a Tamron Adaptall 2 24mm/2.5, which I'm very happy with. B...

WTB 24mm 1:2.8 Manual focus lens with 'A' setting

A second vote for the Tamron - excellent lens. My copy is quite sharp wide open, so there may be some sample variation. Also worth looking out for are the Vivitar 24/2.8A or 24/2.0A and Cosina/Chinon versions of the same, although A versions are rarer.

WTB 24mm 1:2.8 Manual focus lens with 'A' setting

Thanks for all the info, I now have even less idea what I want/need! [but more lens knowledge] I an shying away from non 'A' mount lenses, but do wonder if having one would force me to learn more about what is happening with my camera, and they are cheaper! ... Pretty much gone off topic,so th...

WTB 24mm 1:2.8 Manual focus lens with 'A' setting

I wouldn't want you to think non-"A" mount lenses are unusable, merely more awkward. With "A" lens you'll get aperture priority; without it, you'll have to use manual. As you point out, a great learning point and, to be honest, you soon get used to making an educated guess at exposure in changin...

WTB 24mm 1:2.8 Manual focus lens with 'A' setting

I wouldn't let non-A put you off if you found a good lens at a good price. It's easy enough to set the camera up so that you can use the optical depth of field preview to give you stop down metering, and the e-dial (I use the rear edial for this) to control shutter speed. So it's not really that...

K10/K20 batteries

Lynton, Thanks for your reply. I was looking for £20 plus postage. Given that they have only been advertised for a couple of hours I think I'll hang on for a better offer - if it turns out that I am struggling to sell it I'll get back to you (postage works out to £2.37 1st class signed for)

WTB 50mm lens

I'm after, well I'm not totally sure here. I'm using a K200D with a Sigma 18-50mm 2.8 lens but I'm after a fast 50mm lens. An old manual focus one, as long as it is very fast, in excellent/mint condition and compatible with a K200D will do. Many thanks!

K20d + various lenses and accessories all avail seperately

Andy, I will check for you but will be tomorrow (the gear is at my work flat at the mo). Will let you know. Fairly sure it is an f2.8 - with macro. From what I have gathered, there were a whole bunch of companies that released similar spec lenses including chinon, though not all had a macro focus...
