Weekly Compettion #352 - Starts with the letter..........'T' Competition

Wow!
There are some cracking shots here, this is difficult judging as so many potential winners, not just for the image but some clever titles too.
So, thanks to everyone who entered and found some interesting ways around the 'T' theme.

At first I thought this must be some photoshop work but no, well spotted and I think it works because of the clouds which add interest
Truck - Billyspad
This has real impact, I don't usually like this treatment but with this subject it works well and has not been overdone, great use of wideangle lens too. The sky adds that extra interest as well.....Nice shot!

I've never seen one of these so for me it's a nice 'portrait', I think a 'levels' tweak might help it but it has a lovely blurred background, sharp eyes and the title was clever.
Tomb with a view-Lifespicer
Another clever title! First my eye was drawn to the tomb then the wall leads the eye down to the town in the distance. A well composed shot, perhaps we could have seen a little more of the town on the left?

Not sure what the title means but some well executed photoshop work and I love the girls expression,goes with the title perfectly

Great title again. This could have been just a boring shot but the folds of the towel and the small area of grass elevate it above average, It made me smile

When I first saw this I was impressed but on viewing it large I was amazed, it has so much interest and detail,
the lovely subtle colours and it is tack sharp!
Composition is excellent too.

They have running tracks on ships?
I like the contrast between the metal curves of the stacked loungers and the straight lines of the track.
For me, I would crop the top down to the post on the right just to raise the ball above centre

I had to look twice...for the 'T'
The composition is good but for me there is too much 'waste' on the left, the 'T's of course are the main subject
Twin Towers-Aliengrove
This is a stunning image I would be proud of.
Composition is excellent, it's sharp, exposure is just about right and it's an interesting subject.
If I'm being super super critical (sorry) there are a couple of flare spots, but that's just being picky, brilliant!

I really like reflection photos so i'm won over here, I do feel though that it would benefit from a 'saturation' tweak

Fist off I thought "so what" but then looking closer I'm intrigued how you managed to get that one tangerine only in focus?

This reminds me of some of the prints I used to see in old camera club competitions....except this is much better!

I like this shot, it makes me feel cold.
Exposure is spot on, pin sharp, lovely colours and it's nice to see a 'portrait format' shot of a train, capturing the smoke. Ok, the train is going out of the picture but that's always difficult with train shots.

A wonderful portrait! Good that you've included enough of his crop to tell the story and you've captured his character well.

I had to view this one large to check my eyesight, it is slightly out of focus on the eyes (the whiskers are sharp) which is a shame as it has good eye contact. The fences in these places are always difficult to avoid too, eapecially when you're confined to a car

I like how you've got a 'T' from a picture of a Wren!
A great shot and good composition with a nice out of focus background...and so lucky to see a Wren!

Very effective shot. Puzzling where you took it from? Is it just a little lacking in contrast....or is it just me?

It's very well done and full marks for matching the lighting!

Ah, this one IS real and it could be in active service.
Good lighting and all the dust adds to the effect. I think a little more space in front of the tank would have been better though.

This is very atmospheric with super lighting!
Personally I would crop some sky a little and from the left side for better composition
Train on the Tallyllyn Railway-Perspicador
Having lived in Wales I like these trains.
We have the driver, the passengers and the rest of the train (a little more would have been nice) so nice composition here. I'd like to see a bit more of the train.

Another one better viewed large, this has great impact especially in B+W but there's not really one 'stand out Teezel' as a focal point which would help

This has great eye contact, I feel that the lighting is a little harsh though for a child and that highlight top left distracting ....easily taken care of though,

As this was taken in July I'm assuming the sun was high, some early morning or late evening sun would be great on this subject, of course not so easy in summer! Nicely composed nevertheless

As I said, there are some very good photos here and I like the way you've interpreted the title, so thanks all for taking the time to submit your photos

Superb winning shot there Simon. Congratulations are in in order for a well deserved win among a stunning line up in this comp. Congrats too to Aliengrove and Northgrain, and the HC's Ken2390, Davidstorm and Billyspad. Great competition and equally great judging, so thanks Michael for that.

The "Tall Ship Reflection" was taken from the Tall Ship, Michael, which was moored alongside the wharf in front of the glass fronted Transport Museum. The day was miserable and overcast / raining, hence the lack of contrast!
