This weeks competition theme is to be based upon long exposure, it can be landscape, seascape, cityscape.rnAll entries should reflect the theme, by capturing their chosen subject through longer exposure time, accurate representations of this can be enhanced by using the movement of parts of the image, anything from a moving car in a cityscape, to the water in a seascape, the more creative the better.Good luck and have good fun, canīt wait to see the entries, you are all awesomely talented, so i am very grateful for this opportunity to submit this weeks competition. |

Quick judging once again! Even if you create the comments as you go, you guys must be poised to spring or be night wols or something!
Well done Prieni but it was the Piotro's Lisbon tram for me. Excellent panning and colours just a shame there weren't more people in it.

Thanks Matt,
can't believe I did it again. I'm sure you are taking pity on me for not having a camera at the moment.
My favourite was Piotro's entry, I love that picture, well done. A close second was ZuZa with the Moulin Rouge.
I've posted a new theme and will add a thread in the comments section in a moment.
I don't think I will post my judgement as quick as Matt did (would need to keep up until 1:00 a.m.), but I will do my best to get them in early.

Tough one to judge, that. Lots of great shots there. I would have found it hard to pick from haydnw's Roller coaster, ZuZa's Moulin Rouge, piotro's Lisbon tram and your choice of Prieni's Small town skyline.
Congratulations to Prieni.

Excellent judging job Matt. Must be just about the swiftest results to be posted in these competitions. Well done again Ralf. Zuzu's Moulin Rouge and Piotre's Lisbon Tram were also among my top favourites.

You surprised me with the commendations. I didnt think so well of my pic. Bit "dry" for me. I guess you were just amazed, how much I could do within 10 sec - take the pic, download to laptop do the PP and save
Thanks anyway
I like Pioto and ZuZa most. Also Flat4 ! Mikew, DavidTrout and Prieni were also outstanding for me.

My critique for this weeks competition is as follows, i have been very humbled by having been chosen as Judge, being in the presence of so many great photographers is really quite awe inspiring, regardless my assessment and comments on each shot is simply based on my own opinions, i am by no means an expert, and have found it really quite difficult to perform this task, i can only hope you agree with the decisions etc i have made.........
Snappycaz; Stainforth Force North Yorksire (The Dales)
Nice composition, some great details throughout the shot, the foreground of the shot however, seems to of suffered from the chosen exposure, with high contrast and loss of detail.
Hyram; Night Sky Illumination
Nice choice of subject, really worked well, exposure time well worked out, i love the explosion of light from the firework, admittedly as you say, difficult to do great shot.
Lenscape; Disco
Fantastic wide angle, another great choice of subject, nice effect from the 2sec exposure, love the colours throughout and the mirrored like DJ to centre background, excellent.
Flat4; Children's play
Great choice of subject, would of been nice to be a bit closer to the subject, but then again your choice of focal point would of been difficult to decipher,i can see the sharpness in the centre of the roundabout, a hard shot for sure, however the background landscape is just awesome, great shot.
Bailey; Rush Hour
Awesome shot, great perspective with the wide angle, i'm amazed at the amount of traffic and the exposure time used, just one endless stream of cars etc a real favourite.
Beakynet; London Bridge
Another fun shot, nice perspective between the passers-by and the traffic adjacent, choice of subject, kit and approach is really well done.
MGraley; Fugit irreporabile tempus
Just love it, the swinging pendulum of the clock is just something i would never thought of,nice capture and 10/10 for originality, fantastic.
DavidTrout; Inspection
Awesome wide angle, really sharp, fantastic background subjects, aptly titled, just love the little Fella doing his rounds for inspection, nicely done.
ProSigma; Goin' Underground
Handheld 3sec exposure, very bold, but to be honest, i just love the effect, the light trails and streams all throughout the shot are just fantastic, very abstract, love it!
Haydnw; Rollercoaster
This is just so awesome, very sharp throughout, this is just such a fantastic subject for this particular type of shot, difficult to do with the rate of knots that coaster must be travelling at,nice composition, the angles and curves of the framework are fab, love it !
Johnriley; View from the pier
Nice perspective, i love the lead into the shot with the boardwalk, the grain from the higher ISO adds a bit grittiness and texture to the shot, nicely done.
Ale_k200; Kenya moonlight
I love the way the moonlight over-powers this shot, it somehow creates an almost ethereal like feel to it, the swaying palms in the wind and the stars throughout the night sky are just fantastic, this is a real fave for me.
GilesBysh; Long exposure
Nice effect created from the zoom out, very abstract, love the colours, well done.
ZuZa; Moulin Rouge
Not really much to say here, other than that i really, really love this shot, the long expo. has created a real cracker here, the swirling and zig-zagging of the lighting throughout the wheel is amazing,a feast for the eyes, brilliant work !
Prieni; Small town skyline
Fantastic cityscape, the lights, the reflections across the water, so many details, really sharp, i love the lighthouse, nicely composed, brilliant shot !
Jerome_toole; Four figures in the snow...
Very creative, excellent idea, the night-time shot with the snow, gives a ghostly apparitional feel, very mysterious, nice choice in black and white, love it !
Piotro; Lisbon Tram
Looks like a toy, brilliantly captured, very sharp, great exposure, worked out really well, nice choice of subject, the colour of the lighting really helps with the effect, a real fave !
Dr. Mhuni; Rush hour, Meskel Square
Nice capture with both buses simultaneously turning in opposite directions in the shot, exposure time worked-out well and kept sharp throughout the remainder of the image, good action shot, well done !
Isdky; Splash
Nice capture, the water looks like velvet, technically perfect, great effect, nicely framed with the grasses and rocks in the foreground, really well done.
Josh; Trevi Fountain by Night
Beautiful subject, beautiful place, lucky you!, nice effect with the illumnation throughout the water, nicely composed, great details within the sculpture and building, nicely done !
Horee80; Glencoe
I absolutely love this shot, very dramatic in black in white film and red filter, the exposure time capturing the water beautifully, leading us into the shot, my only criticism being the horizon of the shot sloping to the right, however very sharp and very nicely composed.
StrawberryBeret; StrawberryBeret
Vert abstract, a game of light, colour and time, a very fun shot, well done !
Aiki; Time enough
Genius, very original idea, nice compostion, love the effect of the hands, well thought out.
Puds52; Hopes Water Tower
Love the colours throughout, nicely composed, the exposure has created a real nice effect, how can i not love this, its just up the road from me, the lead down from the reservoir is real nice,
well done !
Galoot; NY - Taxi
Love the selective colouring, the cab has been well captured, nice effect, i really like the added selected colouring of the roadworks, nice use of the fish-eye, love it !
Mikew; Cutting knife
Fantastic studio shot, nicely captured, the details on the knife edge and the sliced side of the pepper are incredible, great idea for a long expo., really done well !
1st Place - Prieni
2nd Place - Horee80
3rd Place - ZuZa
Commendations go to:
Aiki, Mikew
Congratulations to all, brilliant work, i have really enjoyed seeing all your images............
